The Statute Book (Al-Furqaan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Blessed is He Who hath revealed unto His slave the Criterion (of right and wrong), that he may be a warner to the peoples. 1 to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth; and He has not taken to Him a son, and He has no associate in the Kingdom; and He created every thing, then He ordained it very exactly. 2 Yet the people have set up, besides Him, deities, who do not create anything but are themselves created: who can neither harm nor help even themselves: who have no power over life or death, nor can they raise up the dead. 3 And those who disbelieve say, "This [Qur'an] is not except a falsehood he invented, and another people assisted him in it." But they have committed an injustice and a lie. 4 They say: 'He has written tales of the ancients, they are recited to him at dawn and at the evening' 5 Say: 'He sent it down, who knows the secret in the heavens and earth; He is All-forgiving, All-compassionate.' 6 They also say: 'How is it that this Messenger eats food and walks about the markets? Why has no angel been sent down with him to warn us? 7 Or why is not a treasure thrown to him, or why has he not a Garden to eat of?' The evildoers say, 'You are only following a man bewitched!' 8 Look at their various views about you! They have gone astray and are not able to find the right path. 9
