Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 And I do not ask you any reward for it; surely my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds 127 "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? 128 and erect huge palaces as though you will live for ever, 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has bestowed on you what you know, 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 And gardens and fountains; 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They replied: 'It is the same to us whether you admonish or whether you are not one of the admonishers. 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 We will not be subjected to any chastisement." 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 140
