The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And shade extended 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
