And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 Do not betray me 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
