The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Who will be honoured 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the right. 38
