In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
