AND WHEN the messengers [of God] came to the house of Lot, 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They said, 'Nay, but we have brought thee that concerning which they were doubting. 63 "Yet we bring to you the truth, and we are truthful. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 and the Cry seized them at the sunrise, 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the believers. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
