And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
