The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 where then are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
