In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Lam. Mim. Sad. 1 (This is the) Book (the Quran) sent down unto you (O Muhammad SAW), so let not your breast be narrow therefrom, that you warn thereby, and a reminder unto the believers. 2 Follow what has been sent down to you by your Lord and do not follow any protector other than Him. How seldom you take heed. 3 How many towns We have destroyed. Our scourge fell upon them by night or at midday when they were resting: 4 Yet their cry, when Our punishment came to them, was nothing but that they said: Surely we were unjust. 5 Then We will surely question those to whom [a message] was sent, and We will surely question the messengers. 6 with full knowledge, We shall tell them what they did, for We have never been away from them. 7 And the weighing will be just on that Day. Then those whose (deeds) are heavier in the balance will find fulfilment, 8 and those whose good deeds are light [in the balance] will be the ones who have lost themselves because they wrongfully rejected Our signs. 9 And We have given you (mankind) power in the earth, and appointed for you therein livelihoods. Little give ye thanks! 10

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
