He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 to him thou attendest 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And he feareth 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
