The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
