The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
