(The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings 23 For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad! 24 "Is it that the Reminder is sent to him [Prophet Salih (Saleh)] alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!" 25 Tomorrow shall they know who is the liar, the insolent one. 26 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 But they called their commander, who seized and hamstrung her. 29 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 32 Lot's people also gave the lie to the warnings, 33 Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lout (Lot), whom We saved in last hour of the night, 34 As favor from us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful. 35 And he [Lout (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Grasp, but they did doubt the warnings! 36 And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning." 37 One early morning Our torment brought upon them utter destruction. 38 Taste then My torment and My warnings. 39 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 40
