Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And carpets spread around. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
