The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)

۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
