Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)

Ha. Mim. 1 By the Clear Book; 2 We have indeed sent it as a Qur’an in the Arabic language, so that you may understand. 3 It is in the Origin of the Book with Us, sublime and wise. 4 [O YOU who deny the truth!] Should We, perchance, withdraw this reminder from you altogether, seeing that you are people bent on wasting your own selves? 5 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old? 6 And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him. 7 Then We destroyed men stronger (in power) than these, and the example of the ancients has passed away (before them). 8 Yet thus it is [with most people]: if thou ask them, "Who is it that has created the heavens and the earth?" - they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All-Knowing has created them." 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 That sends down (from time to time) rain from the sky in due measure;- and We raise to life therewith a land that is dead; even so will ye be raised (from the dead);- 11 He who created pairs of everything, and fashioned for you boats and beasts on which you ride, 12 so that you can sit upon their backs and then remember the Favors of your Lord and say: 'Exaltations to Him who has subjected these to us otherwise, we ourselves were not capable of it, 13 It is to our Lord that we shall eventually return.” 14 And from* His bondmen, they appointed a portion for Him; man is indeed an open ingrate. (* Appointed some of His creation as His sons and daughters). 15
