The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
