The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 Purify your inner self, 4 Pollution shun! 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And made things easy for them. 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
