[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 Recall, when Shuayb said to them: "Have you no fear? 177 I am for you an honest Messenger. 178 So fear Allah, and obey me. 179 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 180 ۞ "Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud). 181 and weigh with the straight scale, 182 do not defraud people of what is rightfully theirs; and do not spread corruption in the land. 183 "And fear Him Who created you and the generations of the men of old." 184 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 185 And you are naught but a mortal like ourselves, and we know you to be certainly of the liars. 186 Then make fragments of the heaven fall upon us, if thou art of the truthful. 187 He said: My Lord knows best what you do. 188 But they rejected him. Then the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom seized them, and that was the Penalty of a Great Day. 189 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
