The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
