And We did not send a prophet in a town but We overtook its people with distress and affliction in order that they might humble themselves. 94 Thereafter We substituted ease in place of adversity until they abounded and said: even Thus tribulation and prosperity touched our fathers. Then We laid hold of them of a sudden, while they perceived not. 95 And if the people of the towns had believed and had the Taqwa (piety), certainly, We should have opened for them blessings from the heaven and the earth, but they belied (the Messengers). So We took them (with punishment) for what they used to earn (polytheism and crimes, etc.). 96 Then, did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them at night while they were asleep? 97 Or did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them in the morning while they were at play? 98 Are they then secure from Allah's scheme? None deemeth himself secure from Allah's scheme save folk that perish. 99
