I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 A warning to mankind, 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 From the guilty. 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
