The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Last Day came near, and the moon split apart. 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 narratives that are full of consummate wisdom. But warnings do not avail them. 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Noah prayed, "Lord, help me; I am defeated". 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
