The Statute Book (Al-Furqaan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Blessed be He who has revealed the criterion [the Quran] to His servant that he may warn the nations. 1 to whom the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth belongs, who has not taken a son, nor does He have an associate in the Kingdom, and He created everything, then He ordained it very precisely. 2 Yet they have taken, besides Him, deities who create nothing and are themselves created, and who have no power to harm, or benefit themselves and who control neither death, nor life, nor resurrection. 3 Moreover, those who are bent on denying the truth are wont to say: "This [Qur'an] is nothing but a lie, which he [himself] has devised with the help of other people, who thereupon have perverted the truth and brought a falsehood into being." 4 And they say: "Tales of the ancients, which he has written down, and they are dictated to him morning and afternoon." 5 Proclaim (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), “It is sent down by Him Who knows all the secrets of the heavens and the earth; indeed He Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful." 6 And they say, "What is this messenger that eats food and walks in the markets? Why was there not sent down to him an angel so he would be with him a warner? 7 Or why has not at least a treasure been sent down for him or a garden given to him for (easy) sustenance?" And the wicked people say, "You are following a man bewitched." 8 See what likenesses do they apply to you, so they have gone astray, therefore they shall not be able to find a way. 9
