The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
