The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
