The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. (5) وقف المجاذبة أو المعانقة حيث يجب الوقف في أي من موضعين قريبين ولكن ليس كلاهما، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة تظهر في أحد الموقعين باحتمال النصف للنصف.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
