The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruits abounding 32 undiminished and never denied 33 on raised couches. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
