The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
