Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
All praise is to Allah, Who has created the heavens and the earth, and has created darkness and light; yet the disbelievers appoint equals (false deities) to their Lord! 1 He it is Who hath created you from clay, and hath decreed a term for you. A term is fixed with Him. Yet still ye doubt! 2 He is Allah in the heavens and in the earth. He knoweth both your secret and your utterance, and He knoweth what ye earn. 3 And never does a sign come to them from among the signs of Allah, except that they* turn away from it. (* The disbelievers) 4 and thus they gave the lie to the Truth that has now come to them. Soon they will come upon some news concerning what they had mocked at. 5 Have they not regarded how We destroyed before them many a generation We established in the earth, as We never established you, and how We loosed heaven upon them in torrents, and made the rivers to flow beneath them? Then We destroyed them because of their sins, and raised up after them another generation; 6 (O Messenger!) Had We sent down to you a book incribed on parchment, and had they even touched it with their own hands, the unbelievers would still have said: 'This is nothing but plain magic.' 7 They say: "Why is not an angel sent down to him?" If we did send down an angel, the matter would be settled at once, and no respite would be granted them. 8 And had we appointed an angel as a Prophet, We would still have made him as a man and would keep them in the same doubt, as they are now in. 9 Mocked were (many) messengers before thee; but their scoffers were hemmed in by the thing that they mocked. 10
