A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. 1 (It is) a Scripture that is revealed unto thee (Muhammad) - so let there be no heaviness in thy heart therefrom - that thou mayst warn thereby, and (it is) a Reminder unto believers. 2 Follow that which is sent down to you from your Lord and do not follow guardians other than Him; little do you remember. 3 How many a city We have destroyed! Our might came upon it at night, or while they took their ease in the noontide, 4 and when Our scourge fell upon them, their only cry was, "We were indeed wrongdoers!" 5 So We shall call to account those to whom Messengers were sent, and We shall call to account the Messengers (to see how dutifully they conveyed the Message, and how people responded to it). 6 And verily, We shall recount their whole story with knowledge, for We were never absent (at any time or place). 7 Truth alone will be of weight that Day. Those whose scales are heavy shall be successful, 8 and he whose scales are light -- they have lost their soul for wronging Our signs. 9 And We have certainly established you upon the earth and made for you therein ways of livelihood. Little are you grateful. 10
