A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Lam. Mim. Sad. 1 This Book has been sent down to you; so do not hesitate to warn (the unbelievers) through it, and remind the faithful. 2 Follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and follow no friends other than He; little do you remember. 3 Many a habitation have We laid low before: Our retribution came upon them in the night or in the midst of siesta at noon. 4 And when Our punishment came upon them, they had nothing to say for themselves, and could only cry, "Verily, we were wrongdoers!" 5 Then shall We question those to whom Our message was sent and those through whom We sent it 6 We will tell them with absolute certainty (what they had done) for We had never been absent from them (during their lifetime). 7 The weighing on that day is the true (weighing). As for those whose scale is heavy, they are the successful. 8 and he whose scales are light -- they have lost their soul for wronging Our signs. 9 We have established you in the earth and there appointed for you livelihood; little thanks you show. 10
