A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif, Lam, Meem, Sad. 1 This Book has been sent down to you; so do not hesitate to warn (the unbelievers) through it, and remind the faithful. 2 Follow that which is sent down toward you from your Lord, and follow not any patrons beside Him; yet little ye are admonished. 3 How many cities have We destroyed! Our wrath struck their people at night or during their midday siesta. 4 Therefore they uttered nothing when Our punishment came to them, except that they said, “Indeed we were the unjust.” 5 Most certainly then We will question those to whom (the apostles) were sent, and most certainly We will also question the apostles; 6 Then most certainly We will relate to them with knowledge, and We were not absent. 7 The balance that day will be true (to nicety): those whose scale (of good) will be heavy, will prosper: 8 and those whose scales are light will be the losers, for they, are the ones who have been unjust to Our signs. 9 YEA, INDEED, [O men,] We have given you a [bountiful] place on earth, and appointed thereon means of livelihood for you: [yet] how seldom are you grateful! 10
