A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Lam. Mim. Sad. 1 A book has been revealed to you, (Muhammad). You should not hesitate to convey its warning and its good advice to the believers. 2 Follow (O men!) the revelation given unto you from your Lord, and follow not, as friends or protectors, other than Him. Little it is ye remember of admonition. 3 And how many a town that We destroyed, so Our punishment came to it by night or while they slept at midday. 4 And when Our punishment overtook them they had nothing to say except crying out: "We have indeed been sinners." 5 Then shall we question those to whom Our message was sent and those by whom We sent it. 6 We will tell them with absolute certainty (what they had done) for We had never been absent from them (during their lifetime). 7 The weighing on that Day will be the true weighing: those whose scales are heavy will prosper. 8 And as for those whose scale is light: those are they who lose their souls because they used to wrong Our revelations. 9 And assuredly We established you in the earth and appointed for you livelihoods therein; yet little thanks ye return. 10
