A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 A book has been revealed to you, (Muhammad). You should not hesitate to convey its warning and its good advice to the believers. 2 O mankind, follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and do not follow other administrators, abandoning this (the Holy Qur’an); very little do you understand. 3 How many cities have We destroyed! Our wrath struck their people at night or during their midday siesta. 4 And their declaration when Our punishment came to them was only that they said, "Indeed, we were wrongdoers!" 5 (On the Day of Reckoning) We shall question the people to whom We had sent Our apostles, (if they followed their teachings), and will question the apostles. 6 With knowledge We will narrate to them, for We are never absent. 7 And true will be the weighing on that Day; and those whose weight [of good deeds] is heavy in the balance - it is they, they who shall attain to a happy state; 8 Those whose scale will be light, will be their souls in perdition, for that they wrongfully treated Our signs. 9 We have made you inhabit the land and provided you with the means of sustenance. Only a few of you give thanks. 10
