A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
206 verses, revealed in Mecca after S (Saad) before Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif Lam Mim Suad. 1 A DIVINE WRIT has been bestowed from on high upon thee - and let there be no doubt about this in thy heart - in order that thou mayest warn [the erring] thereby, and [thus] admonish the believers: 2 Follow what has been sent down to you by your Lord and do not follow any protector other than Him. How seldom you take heed. 3 And a great number of towns (their population) We destroyed (for their crimes). Our torment came upon them (suddenly) by night or while they were sleeping for their afternoon rest. 4 Yet their cry, when Our punishment came to them, was nothing but that they said: Surely we were unjust. 5 Thus, [on Judgment Day] We shall most certainly call to account all those unto whom a [divine] message was sent, and We shall most certainly call to account the message-bearers [themselves]; 6 and thereupon We shall most certainly reveal unto them Our knowledge [of their doings]: for never have We been absent [from them]. 7 And true will be the weighing on that Day; and those whose weight [of good deeds] is heavy in the balance - it is they, they who shall attain to a happy state; 8 but he whose scales are light those have lost their souls because they were harmful towards Our verses. 9 We have established you in the earth and there appointed for you livelihood; little thanks you show. 10

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
