A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Lam. Mim. Sad. 1 [This is] a Book revealed to you, [O Muhammad] - so let there not be in your breast distress therefrom - that you may warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers. 2 O mankind, follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and do not follow other administrators, abandoning this (the Holy Qur’an); very little do you understand. 3 How many towns We have destroyed. Our scourge fell upon them by night or at midday when they were resting: 4 Then naught was their cry when Our violence came upon them save that they said: verily we have been the wrong-doers. 5 We will question those to whom Our Message was sent, as We shall question the Messengers. 6 with full knowledge, We shall tell them what they did, for We have never been away from them. 7 The balance that day will be true (to nicety): those whose scale (of good) will be heavy, will prosper: 8 whereas those whose weight is light in the balance - it is they who will have squandered their own selves by their wilful rejection of Our messages. 9 YEA, INDEED, [O men,] We have given you a [bountiful] place on earth, and appointed thereon means of livelihood for you: [yet] how seldom are you grateful! 10
