A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. Sad. 1 A Book revealed to you-- so let there be no straitness in your breast on account of it-- that you may warn thereby, and a reminder close to the believers. 2 Follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and follow no friends other than He; little do you remember. 3 And how many a town that We destroyed, so Our punishment came to it by night or while they slept at midday. 4 Therefore they uttered nothing when Our punishment came to them, except that they said, “Indeed we were the unjust.” 5 So We shall call to account those to whom Messengers were sent, and We shall call to account the Messengers (to see how dutifully they conveyed the Message, and how people responded to it). 6 and We shall relate to them with knowledge; assuredly We were not absent. 7 The balance that day will be true (to nicety): those whose scale (of good) will be heavy, will prosper: 8 and he whose scales are light -- they have lost their soul for wronging Our signs. 9 We established you in the earth and made for you a livelihood but little is it that you give thanks. 10
