We initiated your creation, then We gave you each a shape, and then We said to the angels: 'Prostrate before Adam.' They all prostrated except Iblis: he was not one of those who fell prostrate. 11 Allah said: 'What prevented you from prostrating, when I commanded you to do so?' He said: 'I am better than he. You created me from fire, and him You created from clay.' 12 Allah said: then get thee down from hence; not for thee is it to be stiff-necked herein. So go thou forth; verily thou art of the abject ones. 13 He said: "Give me respite till the day they are raised up." 14 He said: Lo! thou art of those reprieved. 15 (Iblis) said: "Because You have sent me astray, surely I will sit in wait against them (human beings) on Your Straight Path. 16 “Then I will certainly approach them – from their front and from behind them and from their right and from their left; and You will find most of them not thankful.” 17 "Begone," said (God), "contemptible and rejected! As for those who follow you, I shall fill up Hell with all of you. 18 To Adam He said, "You and your wife, dwell in the Garden and eat and drink there from wherever you wish, but do not approach this tree, lest you become wrongdoers." 19 But Satan suggested (evil) to them, in order to reveal their hidden parts of which they were not aware (till then), and said: "Your Lord has forbidden you (to go near) this tree that you may not become angels or immortal." 20 And he swore to them both, that he was their sincere adviser. 21 Thus he cunningly seduced them. When they tasted the tree's fruit, their nakedness became exposed to them and they started covering themselves with the leaves of the garden. Their Lord called out to them, "Did I not forbid you to approach that tree, and did I not say to you that Satan was surely your open enemy?" 22 They said: "Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You forgive us not, and bestow not upon us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be of the losers." 23 Allah said: get ye down, one of you an enemy unto another; and for you on the earth there shall be a habitation and provision for a season. 24 He continued: 'You shall live there, and there shall you die, and from it you shall be raised to life.' 25
