Whenever We sent a prophet to a town, We took up its people in suffering and adversity, in order that they might learn humility. 94 Then We changed evil for good, until they multiplied and said: 'Our fathers were indeed touched by misfortune and adversity' So We seized them suddenly while they were unaware. 95 If the people of the towns had but believed and feared Allah, We should indeed have opened out to them (All kinds of) blessings from heaven and earth; but they rejected (the truth), and We brought them to book for their misdeeds. 96 Do the people of the dwellings not fear that Our wrath may come upon them at night while they are asleep? 97 Or, do the people of those towns feel secure that Our punishment will not come to them by daylight while they are at play? 98 Do they feel secure against God's devising? No one feels secure against God's devising except for those doomed to ruin. 99
