And We did not send a prophet in a town but We overtook its people with distress and affliction in order that they might humble themselves. 94 We then replaced their misfortune with well-being until they were relieved and began saying, "Our fathers had also experienced good and bad days." Suddenly, We struck them (with torment) while they were all unaware (of what was happening). 95 Had the people of the villages believed and been cautious, We would have opened upon them the blessings from heaven and earth. But they belied, and We seized them for what they earned. 96 Then, did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them at night while they were asleep? 97 or that which could seize them during their busy hours of the day? 98 What! do they then feel secure from Allah's plan? But none feels secure from Allah's plan except the people who shall perish. 99
