The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said, "This is most surely a skillful magician, 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 They said, "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send into the cities summoners, 111 That they may bring to you every enchanter possessed of knowledge. 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said, "We must have our reward if we are to gain a victory over him (Moses)". 113 He said: Yes, and you shall certainly be of those who are near (to me). 114 They said, “O Moosa! You may throw first – or shall we be the first to throw?” 115 Said Moses: "Throw ye (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them: for they showed a great (feat of) magic. 116 And We inspired to Moses, "Throw your staff," and at once it devoured what they were falsifying. 117 ۞ Thus the truth was upheld, and the falsehood that they practised was exposed. 118 Pharaoh and his men were defeated and put to shame, 119 threw themselves down in prostration 120 saying, "We declare our belief in the Lord of the Universe, 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Pharaoh said: 'Do you believe in Him before I permit? This is a plot that you have contrived in the city in order to expel its people from it. Now you shall know! 123 I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then will I crucify you all together. 124 They answered: "We have (in any case) to go back to our Lord. 125 “And what did you dislike in us, except that we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us? Our Lord! Pour (bestow abundantly) patience on us, and bestow us death as Muslims.” 126
