Some of the Pharaoh's nobles considered him to be no more than a skillful magician 109 who desires to expel you from your land; what do you command?' 110 They said, 'Put him and his brother off a while, and send among the cities musterers, 111 "To bring all the wise magicians to you." 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh. They said, "Indeed for us is a reward if we are the predominant." 113 He said: yea! and verily ye shall be of those brought nigh. 114 So they said: "O Moses, you may cast your spell first, or we shall cast ours." 115 'Throw' he replied. And when they threw, they bewitched the people's eyes and terrified them, and produced great sorcery. 116 We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time. 117 ۞ Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect. 118 Thus they were overcome and made to look abject. 119 The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage, 120 and said, "We believe in the Lord of the Universe, 121 "The Lord of Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)." 122 Pharaoh said: Ye believe in Him before I give you leave! Lo! this is the plot that ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive its people hence. But ye shall come to know! 123 I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then will I crucify you all together. 124 They said, "Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 125 You would take revenge on us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Lord, pour patience upon us and let us die as submitters (Muslims)' 126
