The elders of Pharaoh's people said: 'Surely this man is a skilful magician 109 and said, "He wants to expel you from your land." They asked (others), " what is your opinion in the matter? 110 They said (unto Pharaoh): Put him off (a while) - him and his brother - and send into the cities summoners, 111 to summon every skilful magician to your presence.' 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and asked, "Shall we have a reward, if we should prevail?" 113 'Yes' he answered, 'and you will be among those near' 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 Moses said: 'You throw.' So when they threw [their rods], they enchanted the eyes of the people, and struck them with awe, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time. 117 ۞ Thus the truth was upheld, and the falsehood that they practised was exposed. 118 Thus were they there defeated and brought low. 119 And the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]. 120 saying, "We declare our belief in the Lord of the Universe, 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron. 122 Firon said: Do you believe in Him before I have given you permission? Surely this is a plot which you have secretly devised in this city, that you may turn out of it its people, but you shall know: 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on the alternate sides and crucify you all." 124 They said: "For us, We are but sent back unto our Lord: 125 You only take revenge on us because we believed in the Lord when we saw His miracles. Lord, grant us patience and let us die Muslims (submitted to God)." 126
