Said the chieftains of Firaun’s people, “He is really an expert magician.” 109 who wants to drive you out of your land! " [Said Pharaoh:] "What, then, do you advise?" 110 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send announcers to the cities to gather people.” 111 to summon every skilful magician to your presence.' 112 So there came the sorcerers to Pharaoh: They said, "of course we shall have a (suitable) reward if we win!" 113 'Yes' he answered, 'and you will be among those near' 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 He said, “You throw”; when they threw, they cast a magic spell upon the people’s eyes and terrified them, and they brought a great magic. 116 And We inspired to Moses, "Throw your staff," and at once it devoured what they were falsifying. 117 ۞ Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect. 118 Thus they were overcome and made to look abject. 119 The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage, 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the universe, 121 The Lord of Musa and Haroun. 122 Said Pharaoh: "Have you come to believe in him ere I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have cunningly devised in this [my] city in order to drive out its people hence! But in time you shall come to know, [my revenge]: 123 "I will have your hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, and have you all crucified." 124 They answered: "We have (in any case) to go back to our Lord. 125 You would take revenge on us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us.
