۞ It is He who created you from one soul and created from it its mate that he might dwell in security with her. And when he covers her, she carries a light burden and continues therein. And when it becomes heavy, they both invoke Allah, their Lord, "If You should give us a good [child], we will surely be among the grateful." 189 So when He bestowed them a normal child, they ascribed partners (to Him) in respect of what He had bestowed upon them; therefore Supreme is Allah, above all that they ascribe as partners. 190 Do they (the pagans) consider things that do not create anything but are themselves created equal to God? 191 And who cannot succour them, nor can succour themselves. 192 and, if you pray to them for guidance, do not respond to you? As far as you are concerned, it is all one whether you invoke them or keep silent. 193 Verily, those whom you call upon besides Allah are slaves like you. So call upon them and let them answer you if you are truthful. 194 Do they have feet to walk with? Or have they hands to hold with? Or have they eyes to see with? Or have they ears to hear with? Say, “Call upon your ascribed partners and conspire against me, and do not give me respite.” 195 My Protector is God who sent down the Book, and He takes into His protection the righteous. 196 And those whom ye call upon besides Him cannot succour you nor themselves they can succour. 197 If thou callest them to guidance, they hear not. Thou wilt see them looking at thee, but they see not. 198 Take what is given freely, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the ignorant. 199 If an evil impulse from Satan provokes you, seek refuge with God; He is all hearing, and all knowing. 200 Lo! those who ward off (evil), when a glamour from the devil troubleth them, they do but remember (Allah's Guidance) and behold them seers! 201 As for their brethren [the Satans], they draw them deeper into error and do not relax in their efforts. 202 If thou bring them not a revelation, they say: "Why hast thou not got it together?" Say: "I but follow what is revealed to me from my Lord: this is (nothing but) lights from your Lord, and Guidance, and mercy, for any who have faith." 203 Whenever the Quran is recited (to you), listen to it quietly so that you may receive mercy. 204 And bethink thyself of thy Sustainer humbly and with awe, and without raising thy voice, at morn and at evening; and do not allow thyself to be heedless. 205 Those who are near to thy Lord, disdain not to do Him worship: They celebrate His praises, and prostrate before Him. ۩ 206
