The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the bounties [of war]. Say, "The [decision concerning] bounties is for Allah and the Messenger." So fear Allah and amend that which is between you and obey Allah and His Messenger, if you should be believers. 1 Those only are believers whose hearts become full of fear when Allah is mentioned, and when His communications are recited to them they increase them in faith, and in their Lord do they trust. 2 Those who keep up prayer and spend (benevolently) out of what We have given them. 3 It is they who are the believers in truth. For them are grades of dignity with their Lord, and Forgiveness and a generous provision (Paradise). 4 As your Lord caused you (O Muhammad SAW) to go out from your home with the truth, and verily, a party among the believers disliked it; 5 and they disputed with you concerning the truth after it had become manifest, as though they were being driven to their death with open eyes. 6 And recall what time Allah was promising you one of the two parties that it should be yours, and ye would fain that the one without arms was yours; whilst Allah besought to justify the truth by His words and to cut off the root of the infidels. 7 so that He might prove the truth to be true and the false to be false, however much the wrongdoers might dislike it. 8 And recall when you implored your Lord for help and He responded to you: 'I will indeed reinforce you with a thousand angels, coming host after host.' 9 He gave you the good news only to reassure your hearts, for victory comes from God alone, and certainly God is all-mighty and all-wise. 10
