The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ They ask thee concerning (things taken as) spoils of war. Say: "(such) spoils are at the disposal of Allah and the Messenger: So fear Allah, and keep straight the relations between yourselves: Obey Allah and His Messenger, if ye do believe." 1 For, Believers are those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a tremor in their hearts, and when they hear His signs rehearsed, find their faith strengthened, and put (all) their trust in their Lord; 2 who establish Prayer and spend out of what We have provided them. 3 These are the believers in truth; they shall have from their Lord exalted grades and forgiveness and an honorable sustenance. 4 [It is] just as when your Lord brought you out of your home [for the battle of Badr] in truth, while indeed, a party among the believers were unwilling, 5 They argued with you about the truth after it had been made clear, as though they were being led to certain death while looking. 6 (Remember) when Allah promised to grant you one of the two parties (at Badr), and you wished for the one that was not strong. Allah wanted to establish the truth by His Words and to sever the unbelievers to the last, 7 That He might cause the Truth to triumph and bring vanity to naught, however much the guilty might oppose; 8 And recall when you implored your Lord for help and He responded to you: 'I will indeed reinforce you with a thousand angels, coming host after host.' 9 Allah made it only as glad tidings, and that your hearts be at rest therewith. And there is no victory except from Allah. Verily, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. 10
