(One day) the king said (to his courtiers): "I saw seven fat cows in a dream being devoured by seven lean ones, and seven ears of corn that were green and seven others that were seared. O courtiers, tell me the significance of my dream, if you know how to interpret them." 43 They said: 'They are confused nightmares, nor do we know anything of the interpretation of visions' 44 But the one who was freed and remembered after a time said, "I will inform you of its interpretation, so send me forth." 45 (He went to the prison) and said to Joseph, "You are a man of truth. Would you tell me the meaning of a dream in which seven fat cows eat up seven lean ones and the meaning of seven green ears of corn and seven dry ones? I hope you can tell me the right meaning and save people from confusion." 46 He said: Ye shall sow seven years as usual, but that which ye reap, leave it in the ear, all save a little which ye eat. 47 Then there shall come after that seven years of hardship which shall eat away all that you have beforehand laid up in store for them, except a little of what you shall have preserved: 48 “Then after that will come a year when the people will be given rain and in which they will extract juices.” 49
